Southwest Airlines was responsible for more than 1,800 canceled flights over the weekend due to bad weather and air-traffic control issues stemming form Florida.
The airline cancelled over 1,000 flights on Sunday and over 500 flights were delayed.
Severed weather in Florida resulted in the Federal Aviation Administration imposing an air-traffic management program, which led to cancellations.
According to Southwest Airlines executive vice president, the airline had been appropriately staffed for travel during the long weekend but faced unexpected obstacles that led to the delays and cancellations.
